1. How did your journey with makeup begin? When did you start experimenting with varied makeup looks?
I’ve always had this creative inkling and this desire to express myself through art and style – but not in a conventional way. School and Uni never really allowed me to be creative in the way I wanted. I had ideas and concepts that I wanted to share, and Instagram allowed me to create my own rules, putting out content that genuinely felt unique and authentic to me. I’m able to express myself and push boundaries, knowing I have a loyal following supporting me and driving me forward.
I started off fusing my culture with some pretty basic makeup, but as my skills developed, my love for colour developed. I found it satisfying to create unique colour combinations and shapes on my face, tying it to an overall look.
2. You look beautiful in all your pictures. What’s the inspiration behind using such a bold colour palette?
My Indian heritage inspires gold embellishments, bold, colourful saris, and spices. I love stretching boundaries in makeup and trying new colour combinations. I often fuse the colours off of my day to day in my looks.
3. If you could describe your relationship with makeup in a few words, what would it be?
Abstract, bright, and without rules or boundaries.
4. With such a strong presence on social media, you constantly have to come up with innovative ideas. How do you manage to create consistently?
I keep a diary to jot down an idea when it comes to mind, which is often. I currently have a list of over 100 looks in the pipeline. Being open-minded, aware, and perceptually vigilant of my surroundings allows me to see colour combinations, patterns, and concepts that others may not initially see. By doing this, everywhere you look, an idea for a makeup look.
