We’re bringing you all things coffee today. Turns out coffee not only makes our soul feel alive but also our skin, plants and clothes. Here are DIY, versatile ideas for when you want to indulge in a hobby, and it just happens to be International Coffee Day today.

Skincare

Coffee beans hold more power to them than to soothe us spiritually. They make an excellent ingredient for exfoliating scrubs that reduce inflammation, acne and pigmentation.

Method: DIY by mixing 1 tablespoon ground coffee, 1 tablespoon granulated sugar and some lemon juice. Apply on your face and body, scrub well and rinse with warm water.

Gardening

Move aside home-bakers, we now have emerging home-gardeners, thanks to 2020. Apparently, coffee is a great gardening tool. It can be used as compost, fertilizer and an insect repellant.

Method: To use as a simple fertilizer, thinly sprinkle used coffee grounds onto your soil, so your garden benefits from the nitrogen release.

Fabric Dye

Not all coffee stains are nasty. If you’re in the mood to repurpose clothes, brewed coffee can help.

Method: Immerse your fabric in a heavy pot and weigh it down for at least a few hours, to get a fascinating, aged look.

Fridge Deodorant

If you have chopped onions ready in the fridge for your meal-prep, but fear the stink, coffee has got you covered.

Method: Make a sachet of ground coffee and leave it in the back of the fridge for a few days. It will help absorb strong food odours and leaves behind a lovely coffee aroma instead.

Though coffee is criticized for increasing heart rate, in turn giving rise to anxiety, many people vouch for how caffeine helps them stay alert. Be sure to see how well coffee suits you before you indulge in drinking numerous cups every day. Staying alert or not– coffee got you covered in more ways than one. If not on caffeine, you can always get high on coloured clothes and smooth skin.
